Nothing New Week 2

I had another great Nothing New week. I feel like I have more time to do creative things when I'm not running to the store for this and that. It's actually quite nice. And when I have had to go to the store it was nice to just get what I needed and get out. What a great feeling! I have more time in my day for sure.

One thing I do miss is the option of spontaneously going out for lunch. I didn't realize how much I did this. I think it was about 3-4 times a month. Not huge but enough that I now wish I could still do it. We went to Ikea this week because 1. Calder loves to play there, 2. it's warm and cozy and free and 10 minutes away, and 3. kids eat free. Few more days at least. So, Calder got meatballs, macaroni and cheese and chocolate milk. He was kind enough to share with me. What a gentleman. I so wanted an ice cream cone on the way out though. It was only $1.00 but I'm glad I resisted. It would be a real bummer to cheat half way through the first month.

My focus this week was to go through my clothes and get rid of anything I don't wear or like. I don't know what it is about purging but I absolutely love it. There is such a thrill in seeing waste disappear. I am happy now that I can see all of my clothes (except for the hanging ones) at the same time. I use shelves by the washer and dryer for my clothes. It is a little tight to get in but it is nice that they don't fill up the space anymore. It is so much easier to get dressed when I can see everything at once.
My clothes
Among my clothes were a few that I wasn't sure whether to keep or chuck. I put them in a maybe pile and forced myself to wear one item from the pile each day this week. I kept a few and I chucked a few. It was great. If I couldn't make an outfit out of it or if I didn't like it at the end of the day, it was gone.
The rejects

I have three friends in the area who are doing the Nothing New challenge with me. We all met on Tuesday and talked about how great life is now that we don't buy things. Just kidding. We just wanted to meet and see how everyone was going and talk about our plans for the year. Instead of doing a weekly focus we're going to switch to a monthly focus. 52 weeks is a lot. So, from now until February 1st I'm going to make my focus general organization. I want to visit my junk drawer, closets, toy boxes and cupboards to make sure everything is spic and span. I'll announce February's focus when it gets a little closer. Oh and we're starting a blog to keep track of our mutual endeavor. Once it's up and running I'll put a link here. That way you can read about everyone's adventure.
