Thursday In The Know: Sewing Cafes

Sewing cafes are popping up all over the place but not close enough to me. I r

ecently read

about a cute little sewing spot in Paris called Sweat Shop that offers sewing machines rentals by the hour. They serve cake and coffee while you come and sew. How cool is that? Sewing and cake. I swear it was made for me.

I love that they are taking the cyber cafe idea and making it so cool. Singer donated 10 sewing machines to their cafe as an attempt to increase the interest in home-sewing in France. Sweat Shop also offers classes, complete kits and designer demonstrations.

There are other cafes just like Sweat Shop.

Sewaholic

just did a review of one called Spool of Thread in Vancouver, BC. It's actually a fabric store that also rents out their machines when they are not doing classes. Genius. Check it out

here.

Someday I am going to open a Sewing Cafe. How sweet would that be? (Pun totally intended)
