The Kitchen (in detail)

Here's what the kitchen looked like before. Not much to look at but great with potential.

And here is the after! I love the way it turned out. It fits right in at our house and even sits in our living room without being a massive eye sore (like a plastic one would). We get tons of questions about it when people come over. It really wasn't hard or expensive.
I borrowed a jig saw to cut the hole for the dog bowl to sit in. Then I painted it, drew on the burners for the stove and tiled the back splash. It only took one sheet of tiling and cost about $6.00. I used caulking from a tube instead of grout because it doesn't really need to be water secure and you can't buy just a tiny amount of grout. From here I just screwed everything else in (knobs, bike hook and utensil hangers). The bike hanger was $1.00 at Ikea and the knobs were also quite cheap from there as well. That's it. Easy as pie!
I've been picking things up from the thrift store here and there to fill up the kitchen. We scored this amazing set of dishes one day and I love them! We also have a blender, mixer and pans that came from thrift store. The whole project cost about $40.00. Even cheaper than those ugly plastic kitchens.
