Chicago City Guide - Shop
Shopping in Chicago is great. You can find any store you're looking for within an hour or two. There's even two Ikeas. If you liked the outdoor shopping mall experience in San Diego, you can also find that here in the Old Orchard Shopping Center. Although, it doesn't hold the same charm in the winter. It also reminds me of Easton Town Center in Columbus, Ohio.
If you're looking for the best of the best head to the Magnificent Mile. It has all the shopping you could want. There are three or four malls full of stores and plenty more along the street. They range from Filene's Basement to Hermes.
I didn't do a lot of second hand shopping in Chicago and wish that I would have. I did, however, love the way people just put stuff out on the street when they didn't want it. I really miss seeing all the awesome stuff in alleys or in front of people's apartments. I found some good treasures that way and got rid of a lot of junk.
You should also stop by The Needle Shop. Not only is it a great fabric store, it is also a sewing school! Oh and they are also getting into the fabric production business. The first line they are doing is called Outside Oslo by designer Jessica Jones. Outside Oslo should be available in May.
I hope you've enjoyed our tour of Chicago. I love this city and plan to go back to visit soon. Hopefully, you can get there too!
