eShakti+Me=Love
What an amazing and beautiful day! I love the way pretty clothes can just lift your spirits somehow. I hope that doesn't sound vain and materialistic. I don't mean it to. I'm really just saying when you put effort into the way you look, you feel good. And sometimes new things help. I feel quite pretty in my new dress from eShakti and am so thankful for their generosity.
Stay At Home Mom
As most of you know, we live in the DC area. And I assume most of you also know about the earthquake and hurricane that we experienced last week. Conveniently we were driving out of town during the earthquake and didn't feel a thing. Then, we were scheduled to come back into town on Saturday, the day of the hurricane.
Vintage Blue
A few months back I bought an adorable vintage yellow dress on Etsy. I love it to pieces and wear it almost every week. It has perfect button detailing and fits very well. I couldn't be happier. The ties on the side are adjustable, so it fits a pretty wide range. I don't need it now but at some point this would make a good maternity dress.
Wedding Love
In June my sister got married. We had so much fun getting together and celebrating. I love my family. We always have a great time together. I made my dress, added the pink sash and made Calder a real bow tie. Of course, when the time came to put it on we couldn't find it. So, I quickly made another one out of ribbon.
Layering Accessories
There it is. Layered necklaces. This was a bit of a challenge to photograph but it was really easy to do. Most of my necklaces are chunky and really stand along. I don't have a lot of delicate jewelery. I like the way this looks and want to explore this trend a bit more.
Scarf as Belt
So, this is what I wore yesterday. The challenge was to use something in a unique way and I chose to wear this scarf as a belt. I happen to find one of those awesome plastic scarf/t-shirt things from the 80's. You know, you thread your oversized t-shirt through it on one side and you looked amazingly cool?
Belt It
I totally played it safe today. I wear belts most days, so it wasn't very hard to put a belt on. I was so comfortable today I totally forgot to take a picture. So, husband was out with work friends tonight and resident 2 year old was sleeping, so I was left to take my own pictures. I promise better pictures in the future!
Color Blocking
Oh color blocking. I think highly of this trend, but not this outfit. I am using the 21 Day Challenge as an opportunity to try things I've never tried before or to push myself when getting dressed. This outfit definitely did that. I have on an orange tank (Target), a magenta cardigan (Shade), persimmon pants (made by me) and thrifted Dr. Scholls.
Mixed Patterns
Oh what a fun clothes day! I am totally into this pattern mixing thing. I have a heavily patterned button up shirt that I don't wear very often because it is a bit loud. But with a yellow and white striped sweater over the top, it was perfect.
Tuck It
As I mentioned before I am doing the 21 Day Outfit Challenge. The challenge for today was to tuck something in. Tucking in shirts is something I feel I excel at. Or at least, I do it a lot. Whether I do it right, I don't know but at least I feel comfortable doing it. So, I thought I would try something I don't normally do. I tucked my scarf into my belt.
Calder's New Chair
A few weeks ago I found a cute little patio chair for Calder at the thrift store. Okay, it wasn't really that cute at the time. It has a little rust at the bottom and is a very ugly green color. But the chair was solid and the perfect size. So, I sanded the rust and then gave it a nice gray coat of paint.
21 Day Challenge
I am doing yet another challenge. Kayla of Freckles in April is hosting a 21 day outfit challenge and I am really excited to give it a go. Every week Kayla will give an outfit prompt for each day of the coming week. So you will create an outfit using a prompt or suggestion. You don't have to make anything or do much, just get dressed.
