Jeans
I have had really good luck with finding small cuts of denim on sale. I love it! I paid $2.00 for this piece and have a bunch left over. I love the dark wash and it has a tiny bit of stretch so hopefully it is more comfortable. Once again I used the lovely Simplicity pattern I used for these shorts and these pants. I am just digging this pattern. It's easy, fits well and is easy to personalize.
Calder's Backpack
I've been wanting to make Calder a backpack for a while. He has been using one of my purses to store his toys and carry them around the house. The poor kid needed something. It took no time at all to whip it up this morning. I was surprised how quick it was. Calder loves it. It's so fun to see him carry it around. Right now it is packed with all his stuff for church tomorrow.
New Pillows
My friend Cassie and I whipped up these adorable owl pillows. The crazy thing is they are made completely out of stuff we already had leftover from other projects. I love it when that happens. We made the pattern ourselves and I love the way they turned out.
Yellow Cords
These are by far my favorite pair of pants I've made for Calder yet. I think it's all the contrast stitching. It doesn't hurt that it lines up and everything. They are a bit big but that's because I want them to fit through the Summer. From my Summer sewing list these are the pants that can be rolled up to shorts. They are the same pattern as the gray shorts but with length added and different back pockets.
The Jacket
One of my New Year resolutions was to sew more for myself. I'm pretty good at sewing for Calder and stuff around the house, but not so much for me. So, I chose this jacket as a challenging but fun project. I really like the way it turned out.
Calder's New Jacket
I had this t-shirt that I bought at Warped Tour about 6 years ago. I've probably worn it about 6 times. The shirt was skin tight. You see, for some reason they think girls want skin tight t-shirts when they go to Warped Tour.
Let the Summer Sewing Begin!
I hate winter. I'm sure many of you know that. To get me through the late January / February slump I sew for the Summer. It makes me happy! So, I've started on Calder's Summer wardrobe.
Scrap Quilt
About a month ago I told my husband that I wasn't going to buy any more fabric until I used all the fabric in my stash. I didn't think he would make me stick to it! After going through my stash I realized that most of my fabrics weren't big enough to make anything out of, so I made a twin size scrap quilt and I LOVE it.
From Brown Paper Packages to Me to Haiti
I just heard about a woman collecting blankets for a church group going to Haiti in March. The trip was planned before the earthquake and the group is still planning to go.
Craft Book Review - Sweet Booties!
The picture on the cover of this book is the sweetest thing. I had to check it out! I expected a bunch of sweet, retro projects for baby boys and girls. The pictures are very sweet and the book is well put together with the spiral stay-open binding.
James Madison Costume
This year my son was James Madison for Halloween. I had so much fun making his costume. This would be a great costume for George Washington or any other founding father.
Craft Book Review - Simple Sewing for Baby
I am loving this book. Usually I borrow craft books from the library to see if the projects are something I'm interested in. If so, I'll splurge and buy them. This is a definite must buy for me. I LOVE each and every one of these 24 projects. So far I've made the pants, the bib, the drool catching neck kerchief and the giraffe rattle. I'm going to whip up the buddy tomorrow for Calder's birthday next week.
