Dress design for Shabby Apple dresses
This is my dress design for Shabby Apple dresses /Dare to Design/ competition. I first heard about the competition last year, but I didn't feel comfortable enough with my sewing skills to enter the competition.
Romper
I made this with the intent of giving it as a baby shower gift. I made size medium which should fit a 6-12 month old. Here is my son wearing it. He will be 2 on Wednesday. I think the sizing might be off but I think he is awfully cute. Too bad we're going in to winter because it is so darn cute.
Chalkboard
I found this amazing window on craigslist for $30 about a month before we left Columbus. I really wanted a chalkboard in my kitchen to keep track of menus and activities. Plus I thought it would be cute.
Freezer Paper Stenciling
I've been doing some freezer paper stenciling lately. It is so easy to do and so much fun. There are tons of great tutorials out there so I won't do one but I will give you my sources.
Laptop Bag
Oh Amy Butler. How I love you. Remember when I got a few free patterns from Amy Butler? If not, you can read about it here. Anyway, one of those patterns was the laptop bag and iPod cover. I decided to make the laptop bag to match my new weekender bag. I love the way it turned out and it fits my laptop perfectly. The pattern does teach you how to adjust the size based on the size of your laptop.
Spring Top Week
Made By Rae is one of my favorite blogs. I am so inspired by her energy and her awesome projects! This month she is holding a little contest called Spring Top Week. You can check it out here. Basically all you have to do is make a top, submit it to the contest and pray you win!
How Great is Amy Butler
Back when I was making the Weekender Bag by Amy Butler I got a little frustrated. There was 1-2 little parts that didn't make sense. One was the hard plastic sheeting you needed for the false bottom. The directions said you need one sheet but you need to cut two pieces out of it. Unfortunately the dimensions of the plastic sheet and the pieces you needed to cut didn't match up. There just wasn't enough plastic sheeting. The second issue was it was impossible to cut all the pieces I needed out of the interfacing. I ended up piecing it and I think it turned out great, but I wasn't sure if that was what I was supposed to do.
Robe
I'm slowly but surely whittling down my list of Summer sewing projects. As you may recall I wanted to make a robe for Calder to wear after his bath and at the pool. This is the cutest cotton terry cloth I've seen in a long time. I would wear something out of it. I love that it's not cartoonish or even childish but seems appropriate. It is white with black birds in flight on it.
Amy Butler's Anna Tunic
This is Amy Butler's Anna Tunic pattern. I so love it. I love the style. It is incredibly comfortable and easy to add a cardigan over or a shirt under. The pattern can be a cami, tunic, mini dress or knee length dress. I chose the knee length dress.
Amy Butler Weekender Bag
I am so excited to show you my Amy Butler Weekender bag. I love it and I actually appreciated the challenge it was. Yes, it was a challenge. It is by far the hardest thing I've ever sewn. In a good way, you know?
Striped Shorts
You may be getting tired of all these little boy clothes but I am on a roll! I can whip up a pair of these shorts blindfolded at this point. I also love that they don't look 'home sewn'. I feel like I am finally capable of creating commercial looking clothes for Calder. Hopefully I can start making more for me with such success.
