Pintrest Love
I'm sure you all know about Pinterest by now. In case you haven't it is the greatest thing since blogs. Seriously. You can pin things to your board that you find around the web. That way you don't have file after file on your computer that you never seem to look at. Or is that just me?
Mother's Day
I had a fabulous weekend. I got to sleep in on Saturday and then took my little boy to National Train Day at Union Station. It was awesome. We watched demonstrations with celebrity Chefs Michel Richard and Gerard Bertholon. They made us chocolate mousse and it was delicious. Calder's favorite thing was probably the model train exhibits.
Me Made June - A Call to Action
I have an announcement to make. As you know I just finished Me-Made-March about a month ago. I loved it and am so excited to hear Zoe of So Zo is doing another round in June. So, look forward to June when I wear at least one item of clothing I've made each day of the month. She also does Self-Sewn-September and my goal for that is to ONLY wear things I've made. I have a lot of sewing to do!
Thrifty Finds
I have had killer luck at the thrift store lately! Check out these shorts! They are original 1970's running shorts with the tags still on! I love it! They are size 4 but they fit my son well. I think they will fit for a long time. He LOVES them and thinks they really can make him run faster. Who knows? Maybe they do!
Spring Break is OVER
My little break is officially over. I had a minor health issue that thankfully seems to be all cleared up now! I know some of you are dying to know the nitty gritty but I'll spare you the details and just say I had a very large ovarian cyst removed and now I'm feeling awesome. So, back to the fun.
Little Break
Hi! I just wanted to let you know that I'm going to have to take a little blogging break for a week or two. I have some personal stuff going on and need to focus on that for a bit, but I'll be back soon! I still have so much stuff I want to show you!
Baby Gifts & A Bike
This is my latest thrift store steal and I'm so in love. I paid $39 for it and it works wonderfully. When I got it there was dust all over it and the tires were flat.
Maxi Dress Fabric
Remember my maxi dress? Well, Amber, one of the girls that did Me Made March with me bought the same fabric and made an adorable skirt.
April Giving - Missionaries
We had a marvelous day! My husband got to stay home today, which may not be a big deal to most of you but it was for us. We started our morning with french toast, using homemade bread and topped it with strawberries, bananas and syrup. It was amazing!
April - A Month Of Giving
A few weeks ago, as Calder and I were riding in the car we saw a homeless man on the side of the road. This certainly isn't a rare occurance for us, but for some reason I felt like I should share with him. I had made us some sandwiches (using homemade bread and jam, no less) and offered him one. He was thrilled! He ate it quickly and thanked me profusely.
Me Made March - March 31
Yay! It's the last day in March. I am a little surprised at how easy Me Made March was. I did have some repeat days but this red and blue striped shirt is the only thing I wore more than twice. This skirt is also made by me. I don't wear it much because it is a little big and therefore fits funny. The zipper was also one of my first zippers and I don't love the way it puckers at the bottom. No, I don't want to show you my zipper puckers.
Me Made March - March 30
What a drab day. Last night Calder spent from 2:00 to 5:00 just hanging out in our bed. He talked, he kicked, he sang songs. We desperately tried to sleep through it all. It didn't work. Jason slept on Calder's bed, I threatened to sleep on the couch. It wasn't pretty. So I was tired, it rained and we didn't really do much today. But we looked cute doing not much.
Me Made March - March 29
Every year I have a similar cycle. In February I get a little bummed because it is the end of the Winter, I'm ready for Spring and it's just cold. Then March hits and it starts to get a little warmer. I spend more time outside and I start having the urge to purge my stuff and spruce up my apartment. So, we took three bags of stuff to the thrift store today and I re-arranged some things. I also did a bit of deep cleaning and feel much better.
Me Made March - March 28
I think I am going to call Chicago my last city guide city for now. I hope you enjoyed it! I do currently live in the DC area but I want to wait before doing a city guide. I have more exploring to do, you know? But I promise as awesome places pop up, I'll let you know about them! So, did you like the city guide? Do you now have a strong desire to visit any of these cities?
